nothing sexy about it

free life playback: music.

like right now, all 22 years of my life is playing from the good old cds. like im sitting in a time machine, heading straight into the past. this is such an awesome feeling~

primary school for me was all jpop. ive never really been into english music, except bsb, westlife, britney spears and christina aguilera.

Now Playing: Ayumi Hamasaki - Depend on You

$20 to fork out for an album was simply too much. i combined money with my sister to buy cds. my first album was Kinki Kids - KISS (Kindaichi, anyone?). I LOVED Kinki kids to death la.

i listened to it over and over again, and knew every song by heart. the lyrics still come to me now like instinct, albeit in bits and pieces. i learnt my first japanese from the lyrics book which i carefully slot back into the album jacket each time.

this is what an album is about - savouring every single song (be it good or bad), let it play out non-stop hits from your favourite singer. the good old jpop!

Music Station used to play at 10pm, so did all the jap drama classics of that time: Long Vacation, Virgin Road, Love Generation, Love 2000, Majou no Jouken...

Henceforth spawned 3 Kinki Kids albums, 1 ayumi hamasaki, 1 namie amuro, 2 Chemistry albums.

Now Playing: L'Arc En Ciel - Awake

This album is the one and only rock album i have. at the peak of this obsession, before i went to school every morning in secondary school, when i had some spare time, i played the cd and listened to one song. some very awesome rock this was. loved Hyde's rocker vocals.

then i got my first mp3, from Creative.

Now Playing: Dong Bang Shin Ki

biggest and longest obsession: DBSK/TVXQ. probably for, 4 years? truly a die-hard fan, given their short lifespan of about 6 years. okay i really can't remember. but after they went their separate ways, i swore off all dbsk songs because that irritating duo kept the same name (and my favourite is in the other 3 anyway).

i listened to their albums every morning before school, attended sgcassiopeia's gatherings, downloaded every single video of theirs on a daily basis (without subs most of the time), was heavily involved in the maintainence of an online fan forum, painstakingly recorded every video in chronological order on paper, burnt all the videos into cds, bought their albums, photobooks, cried when they had a concert in KL and i couldn't go...

dbsk was true love man. my first and only love~

so spawned about 18 albums (concerts/albums/singles/dvds), 150 cds worth of burnt videos, and 2 photobooks. almost blind buys - direct translation from chinese, and >$1000. but no regrets.

Now Playing: Lin Jun Jie

he inspired me to buy his music in uni 1. he's such a talent, i wanted to keep his music always. bought the first 3 albums, after much trouble since they are not on the racks anymore. damn, damn good.

my last album was from Fly To The Sky - Transition. another fantastic duo who will never make songs together again.

since then, there have been so many albums which i intended to buy and yet never did. digital music took over. then again, i lost such a lot of of them a few years back. who says music never dies... how untrue. i could never really find all of them back again. along with those precious songs went some emotions from the past.

search for Kinki Kids on youtube, and no MVs turn up. nooooooo.

recently, i received an album. first of its type in my shelves, it's got piano songs from Yiruma. thoroughly awesome.

perhaps it's time for a new addition to the collection, and to playlist 'Life'.
