come and let the colours burst

i just experienced the most amazing cny spent in nanjing/hangzhou. fireworks and firecrackers started going off at around 5pm. i was watching all the action on the peak of purple mountain. every few seconds, in a corner of nj, we could hear cny approaching. midnight was spent on the roof of my hostel in nj watching fireworks going off all around me nonstop, for like, maybe half an hour? truly awesome! quoting a friend: "singapore, they spend millions setting off fireworks. here, you just let the culture loose, and you get this." word.

even walking on the streets, you get to watch fireworks going off across the road or just up ahead. a day on, the smell of the gunpowder and remnants of last night's festive mood still lingered.

cny here is a totally new experience. =D
