Quasimodo is a character from The Hunchback of Notre Dame. 'Quasi' means 'almost', and 'modo' means 'a standard measure'. Ironically, he was born with deformities (a hunchback and a wart that covers his left eye). As such, despite being kind-hearted, he was feared and not accepted by the society. He later falls in love with a beautiful gypsy girl Esmeralda, who does not reciprocate his love. Frollo, Quasimodo's benefactor, in an attempt to quell his lust for her, hanged her without his knowledge. Out of anger, Quasimodo murders Frollo and dies holding Esmeralda's body.
