fangirl mood
listening to music takes so much time. lol. especially korean/jap when i can't understand the language. like what zr said once, you not only listen, but also sit in front of the screen and watch, which takes up so much time. so true! hahha. i can spend hours just listening to (and watching) songs.
speaking of which, it's been so long since i last bought an album. so im going to buy shinee's 2nd album. i love the excitement of opening up a new cd case, seeing the glossy, scratch-free inside and flipping through the album jacket. it's like opening up a present!
i did a count of the albums on my shelf...45 albums and 7 concert dvds. what the! half of which belongs to dbsk. hahahah. i was the mad one who got all 4 versions of the SAME album. this is how SM makes money, ass.
anyway, back to Shinee. i know, cheesy name. but they're better than what their name suggests. and I think i've figured out the difference between jap teenboppers, korean groups, taiwanese boyband(s) and western boybands. in fact, japan/taiwan/the west hardly churns out boybands now - they're all coming from korea. gone are the days when you see magazines with taiwanese boybands splashed all over the covers, it's the age of korean boybands and girl groups.
taiwanese boybands (actually, i mean fahrenheit) can't sing, can't dance, depend mostly on looks. watching/listening to them perform is really just an eyesore and pain to my ears with such sub-standard music. i tried their countdown performance, but try as i might, i couldn't last a minute, and they totally made me cringe. but one good thing is, they seem to be able to do everything other than what the traditional boyband is able to do. hosting, acting, blah.
japanese boybands (actually, i mean the Johnny's) are fairly good at everything as well. usually pretty faces, with only one guy who can really sing in the group, display fair dance skills, lousy live singing, supported by scores of back dancers and decked in outlandish outfits. good thing is, they are also ubiquitous in showbiz and are strangely well-liked.
korean boybands are very good dancers and singers who give the most fulfilling peformance for their fans. they dance and sing live, which is really hard to do. they also seem to be versatile, going into hosting, deejaying, acting, musicals etc.
bad thing is, the groups are getting bigger and bigger. check out super junior (they're shrinking too, in any case). which means there are non-singers and non-dancers camouflaged among the rest, acting either as backup vocals or backup dancers. and they also have ridiculous outfits.
check out the girl groups, they're horrendous. herd-ish (snsd with 9 members), a handful with real singing skills, boring girly dances. there are exceptions (2ne1/miss A) though.
how did i even digress??
my point being, SHINee is not like what its name suggests. lol. korea has bad naming sense, but has very talented artistes.
try Big Bang, 2am, SHINee, 2ne1, Miss A.
