started watching this thai movie called love of siam last night. havent finished it, but its good so far. anw its abt gays. i watched abt half of it last night...and there was this particular dialogue which struck me. its from one of the main leads he's called Mew. oh btw the other lead is DAMN goodlooking. hurhur. his name is Tong in the movie.
video clip of this scene
Tong: So, Mew, how have you been?
Mew: Fine. Playing my music is fun.
Tong: But you are alone. Aren't you lonely?
Mew: Frighteningly lonely.
Tong: What do you mean? "Frighteningly lonely"?
Mew: It's like when we were younger, we were so lonely when we didnt have many friends. And now that we have grown up, loneliness seems just so much worse.
Tong: Why is it so bad for you?
Mew: I dont know how to explain it. It started during the summer when i was in Grade 8. (Goes on to death of his grandma who's v close to him). It's not easy at all, because the longer my grandma is the gone, the more i miss her. so i have one question. if we can love someone so much, how can we handle it the day we are separated? And, if separation is part of life, and you know about separation well, is it possible Tong, that we can love someone and never be afraid of losing them? At the same time, i was also wondering is it possible that we can live our entire life without loving anyone at all? That's my loneliness. I've lived with it for 5 years now, i know just how bad loneliness feels. I fear it will continue to get worse.
i first posted this two years back, in Sept 2008. and it scares me that i did the exact same thing today. watch the movie halfway, stop after watching this particular scene, and blog about it. hahhaahah! i think you might need to watch it to feel this dialogue. because Tong in the movie lost his sister and Mew was talking about separation. it's a deep conversation. multi-layered plot. good watch!
