bordeaux black

im so bored, that i went to check up on the words that i didn't know how to pronounce, and their meanings...hahah! i realise there are words that i never really know the meaning, i only guess based on the context they're used.



avatar (air-ver-tahr) : i always find it annoying when ppl pronounce it as ah-vah-tahr...

entourage (ant-too-rahj) : a group of attendants or associates, as of a person of rank or importance: The opera singer traveled with an entourage of 20 people.

bordeaux (bore-doh) : Bordeaux is a color that is a combination of a red tone and a purple tone, along with a hint of brown.


callous (pronounced like 'careless'): insensitive, indifferent, unsympathetic

stoic (stow-eek): of or pertaining to the school of philosophy founded by Zeno, who taught that people should be free from passion, unmoved by joy or grief, and submit without complaint to unavoidable necessity.

jaded: dulled or satiated by overindulgence, worn out or wearied

burlesque (ber-lesk) : an artistic composition, esp. literary or dramatic, that, for the sake of laughter, vulgarizes lofty material or treats ordinary material with mock dignity.

leitmotif (light-mo-teef) : a motif or theme associated throughout a music drama with a particular person, situation, or idea.

lineage (lee-nee-age)

idiosyncrasy : a characteristic, habit, mannerism, or the like, that is peculiar to an individual.

valet (vare-lay)

grandiose : more complicated or elaborate than necessary
